Hard-working, kind, intelligent individual that enjoys the little things in life

MCAT Prep Scholar

I was born and raised in Orange County, California. After graduating from high school at the age of 16, I began college at UC Berkeley. I pursued a double major in molecular and cell biology with an emphasis in biochemistry and psychology.

My years at UC Berkeley were, no doubt, the most difficult, yet rewarding years of my life. I had the amazing opportunity to develop myself professionally and socially. In addition to volunteering at the University Health Center and joining the MCAT Prep Scholars Program, I also joined Sigma Epsilon Omega, Cal’s first and only queer fraternity. Last summer, I was selected as a Gilman Scholarship recipient. This award allowed me to matriculate in a pre-health program at the University of Glasgow, where I took courses in anatomy and genetics. Abroad, I not only had the opportunity to dissect cadavers but also learn about Scottish and various other cultures.

“Navigating life at UC Berkeley as a STEM major was difficult, especially since I could not rely on my family for direction. NERDS is an excellent program that provides this support to students like myself. NERDS provided me with the opportunity to develop professionally and socially within the STEM field and life in general.”
